Hillcroft Learning Resources Center

100 Years of Women’s Literacy – challenging histories, creating futures: a Hillcroft Women’s College campaign will promote all levels of women’s literacy in 2016/2017 to explore women’s experiences in printed and digital material. Investing in new materials and creating a range of reading activities, the project aims to empower women through improvement of their literacy and digital skills.
The project will benefit women at Hillcroft as well as women in the community. It will encourage reading through a variety of methods. Monthly themed reading activities will be planned. A monthly Hillcroft Reading Group will help less confident readers to learn about reading, swap ideas, read together, explore media. A monthly Hillcroft Book club will allow more confident readers to discuss shared texts. Regular e-Book and technology workshops will teach digital reading skills to learners. Regular activities with ESOL and Literacy courses will promote use of the LRC and activities. Funds will help provide technology, texts and materials for the program.
